About the Association – Glendale Cemetery

Glendale Cemetery Association

Glendale Cemetery Association, Inc. was formed in 1952 by several "oldtimers" from the Harrisburg area who were distressed about the deplorable conditions at the old cemetery. The first officers were Murray Aubert, President; Lottie Turley Ramsey, Secretary; and Bessie Aubert, Treasurer.

Objectives of the organization were listed as:

Rescue old cemetery
Maintain old cemetery
Restore it to its former beauty
Establish perpetual care fund
Operate as an heritage and historical society for Old Town Harrisburg

Those objectives remain a part of the Association's by-laws.

Officers and Board Members

The Glendale Cemetery Association is an all-volunteer organization. Officers and board members are elected from the membership and serve two-year and three-year terms, respectively.
